Modernism (art)
In the history of art
modernism is used to refer to the period between 1860s and 1970s. In modernism new experimentations were made to
develop new and different art. Some of the modern art contains a list of different
collages and 3D assemblage, animation and cinematography. Some work in building
designs was made nearly the 1900 and some are courtesy of Behrens, le
Corbusier, Gropius and others. In American architecture one can see that the Eiffel
tower was a great extraordinary design which was made in the modernism. In
modernism one can also find many portraits. These were made because of their
belief in themselves.
Many of the modern art
which was made in this time were for high class people or for institutions like
churches. Many of them were based on religious styles or on stories being told
in the artwork. Some of the art that was made was based on people, places or
things that interested the artist. Some artists also experimented the use of
color, non-traditional materials and new techniques and mediums
Example of modern art- Impression,
Sunrise (1873)
Artist: Claude Monet
In this work Monet make the use
of loose handling of paint. He made a great focus on the light and the
atmosphere within this landscape. This is
considered as the first fully modern movement and has all the
characteristics of impressionism. The use of abstraction in his work, Monet
shows what he sensed or experienced while making the painting. What Monet
observed during the sunrise is showed in a visual impression.
